The beauty industry is filled with lies and distortions of the truth. And through years of untrue information, some people believe many different myths about skincare and beauty.
We are here to put a stop to them.
Myth 1: Hypoallergenic products are better for sensitive skin
The term hypoallergenic means that a product has less risk of causing an allergic reaction hence is better for allergy-prone and/or sensitive skin types.
However, there is no testing to determine what ingredients are suitable for the term “hypoallergenic”.
Many hypoallergenic products contain fragrances, which is an ingredient that commonly causes sensitivity. Rather, use products that are fragrance-free as well as skin-soothing ingredients.
Myth 2: Natural ingredients are better for the skin
This myth and belief are more tied to the emotional pull factor of using “natural” ingredients, where the truth is that there is no factual or scientific legitimacy to support natural/organic ingredients to be better for the skin. And even natural ingredients, are not 100% natural as they still go through an extensive manufacturing process where they are formulated with other “chemical” ingredients.
Customers should rely on ingredients that have been tested and proven, not claims about ingredients that have not been tested and have no evidence to support many of the claims of its benefits to the skin.
